home sweet home

Our tour de Midwest USA recap:

We witnessed 3 snow storms, scratch that, BLIZZARDS - one being on May 1.
What is going on? Obviously not global warming...
Later in the week, I got a sunburn (not surprising), a friend came to visit from Iowa City, and mom and I tried our luck with fishing - no bites. I did convince them I should be allowed a local license since Iowa was my mailing address - don't tell any DNR.

After Mark arrived, we made two visits to Taco John's... not my idea,
hosted a Kentucky Derby party and attempted to learn how to play cribbage.
On our last day in Iowa, we made a trip to the Lakes but couldn't spend any time in the water.
Don't worry, we figured out an alternative!

Off to Chicago... Cubs game... BBQ... family... friends... hot dogs... SUNSHINE!
Is there anything more American?
can't ever get enough of these!

Next stop - Indianapolis to see Julie & Jared and celebrate my birthday!
The next morning, we were on the road to West Lafayette to finish off the tour!
I'll add pictures later.

We stepped foot in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
We used nine different airports... I didn't even think that was possible in one trip!
I think we got our fill of American food and drinks.
We only had one delayed flight - of course the last one.
I slept for 14 hours the night we returned...
BUT it was SO fun and SO worth it! Can't wait until next time!

I'd love to say we are taking it easy this weekend, but we've got a six hour road trip ahead of us tomorrow! Another French holiday on Monday so we might as well take advantage!
I'll update after we return!
